Anyone who likes round by round betting matchups in golf has a great opportunity. If you watched the Buick Invitational Thursday, then you know what I am going to be talking about.
If your book offers matchups by round, take a hard look at it. I am sure they probably will not have many matchups like the following:

Torrey Pines has 2 courses, the North and South Course. The North played A LOT LOT EASIER THURSDAY! I am not sure if it will be the same Friday, but I would bet on it. Every one of the top 15 people or so played the NORTH. Everyone you see over par, probably played the other course. I believe they flip courses for Friday. Now, if your book is dumb enough to put matchups of golfers playing opposite courses, I would reccomend playing the one that is on the NORTH COURSE.

First-round scores are never more misleading than at the Buick Invitational, with one course that plays like a pitch-and-putt at 6,874 yards and the other that will host the U.S. Open in two years. Of the top 40 players, only five played on the South Course, which measures 7,607 yards and yielded an average score of 73.9. Not only was it four shots tougher Thursday, it took about 30 minutes longer for rounds on the South to be completed.

Everyone check the books please. If anyone finds some matchups that one golfer is playing the SOUTH, and the other playing the NORTH. PLEASE POST. THANKS

Everything I see says that they all played the North course today. On Friday they all play the South course. Where did you get your information regarding 5 of the top 40 playing the South course?

look at pga tour.com. north played a lot easier thursday. scorebaord will flip around a lot tomorrow i guarantee that. if you shoot under par on the south, that is a gooood round.

That's where I looked. It said the north course played 4 strokes easier than the south course. I gathered that to be easier than earlier tournaments played on the south course, not that some golfers were playing on the south course on Thursday. I could be wrong though. I just haven't seen any web sites stating that anyone played on the south course.

At cnnsi.com they have tee times listed with golfers teeing off either at hole 1 or at hole 10. I was assuming they were the same course.

go to pgatour.com
scoreboard
then click on a player you want.
it has p,s,h next to him
p= play by play, s= statistics, h= hole
click on h and it tell you what course they are playing on. north or south.
if a player has not teed of yet, look at what they played yesterday by clicking full scorecard. they reverse today.

good luck!

I saw this too late, but I"m curious. Did the books have players pared up from the both courses or just the same course?

I went to www.pgatour.com and looked at which course the players played today. I then checked Pinnacles pairings and bet on those players that played on the South course today since they should be playing on the easier North course on Saturday against players playing on the harder South course. Tiger will be playing on the North course against a player playing on the South course but I didn't bet it because the odds were too high.

Here is who I took:

Mayfair -107 over Perez
Howell -115 over Sabbatini
Garcia +122 over Mick
Jobe -127 over Clark

That's the way it looks at pgatour.com. Oh well. I didn't put a lot on these.
